Program Description

Why take this course?

The terms Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR) and more recently Alternate Reality (within the research fields), can be represented within the umbrella terms of Immersive Experiences and reflect the degree of digital content presented to the users as they move from the real to virtual world experience. These technologies are changing how we interact and consume content.

Traditionally applications of such technologies lay within entertainment and gaming domains. However, research and industry are now deploying these disruptive technologies within telecommunications, advertising, real estate, health, education, human-machine interaction, manufacturing, robotics, tourism among many others.

This MSc in Software Design with Augmented and Virtual Reality targets learner expertise and skills development within this rapidly emerging and developing area. This is a challenging and multidisciplinary field and our offering will develop the skill set to blend key technical, creative and user experience expertise such that graduates can apply the same across any of above-mentioned industry domains. This MSc places a unique emphasis on design and experience evaluation of Virtual and Augmented Reality applications.
