Athlone Institute of Technology is a university located in the heart of Ireland. The university offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programs to more than 6,000 students.

Entry Requirements for Non-EU Applicants to Undergraduate Programmes

Application Procedures for Non-EU Students

Students applying for entry to undergraduate programmes should supply the following information directly to the International Office, Athlone Institute of Technology.

  • Completed AIT application form;
  • Detailed curriculum vitae;
  • Certified transcripts of examination results and English language translations of qualifications not issued in English
  • Evidence of ability to follow classes in the English language (which must satisfy Institute entry requirements for the following programmes)

Undergraduate programmes: Minimum IELTS 5.5 with no band less than 5.0.

 

Entry Requirements for Non-EU Applicants to Postgraduate Programmes

  • The equivalent of Honours Bachelor Degree from a recognised University in a discipline relevant to the postgraduate degree sought with a minimum average of 60% in final year examinations. ...
  • Letter of recommendation from an academic lecturer from the home university.

    English language Requirements for Non-EU Applicants to Postgraduate Programmes

    • Minimum. IELTS Band 6.0 – 6.5 or equivalent English examination (Depending on the programme). Kindly refer to individual programme requirements.

The SRC team pride ourselves on being friendly and welcoming and strive to do our utmost to help students make the most out of their time in AIT. College life is exciting however it is not without challenges so we are often the first port of call when students are struggling to deal with problems which may arise.

You’ll find us very approachable and happy to answer your questions, so don’t worry about not knowing exactly where to go - we are happy to help, no problem is too big or too small. You have a wide range of supports and resources available to you; the choice is yours!

Learning and Teaching Unit

The Learning & Teaching Unit is dedicated to the support and advancement of learning and teaching in Athlone Institute of Technology. The unit will work collaboratively to continue to develop a culture that:

  • Respects and supports individual differences among learners.
  • Encourages the development of student-centred learning environments in which diverse students can learn and excel.
  • Values and rewards teaching. Supports staff in educational research.
  • Assist with the dissemination of best practice in higher education. Encourages the implementation of pedagogical initiatives/innovations. Promotes and supports the objectives and measures outlined in the Institute Strategic Plan, which relate to excellence and innovation in Learning and Teaching.
