Introduction

University College Dublin is one of Europe's leading research-intensive universities and is ranked within the top 1% of higher education institutions world-wide. In the 2019 QS World University Rankings by Subject, UCD has six subjects ranked in the top 50: Veterinary Science (26), Library & Information Management (38), Nursing (44), English Language and Literature (49), Sports-related subjects (50), and Engineering – Mineral & Mining (50). The University also has 14 subjects in the top 100 and 35 in the top 200.

In 2020, for the third year in a row, UCD was ranked number one in Ireland for graduate employability and 75th in the world, in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings.

UCD is also Ireland's most globally engaged university with over 30,000 students drawn from 136 countries, including almost 4,000 students based at locations outside of Ireland. The University's main Dublin campus occupies an extensive parkland estate of more than 130 hectares and offers world-leading facilities including the UCD O'Brien Centre for Science, UCD Sutherland School of Law, UCD Lochlan Quinn School of Business, UCD Moore Centre for Business and UCD Student Centre. Admissions

Making an application to university is an important decision; whether you are a recent school leaver or graduate, are returning to education later in life, want to pursue a personal ambition or take the next step in your career.

Student Life

UCD’s leafy Belfield campus offers everything you’ll need for a comfortable student life. Discover restaurants, cafés, student clubs and world-class academic facilities. You’ll soon become part of the lively and friendly campus community.

UCD Global Lounge

The UCD Global Lounge is a dynamic hub for internationalism on the UCD campus. It's a dedicated space for globally focused student groups and organisations. They host seminars, talks, film evenings, exhibitions and other events for students. Plasma screen televisions broadcast 350 international TV stations, including Sky Sports and ESPN.

Clubs and societies

You'll find over 80 active student societies and 55 sports clubs on campus. There's something for everyone, from canoeing to comedy to chemical engineering.

The International Student Society arranges activities and excursions all around Ireland. Make sure you sign up for the chance to meet fellow students who are also studying abroad. You'll also get to know Ireland’s beautiful countryside and warm-hearted people.
