UPT – Oporto Global University, is a private higher education institution, ISO 9001 certified, recognized by the Portuguese Government and the Portuguese Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education - A3ES. UPT’s Research unit, IJP, is certified by the Portuguese funding agency for research, FCT.
Created in June of 1986, UPT – Oporto Global University located in Oporto, known as the 'Cidade Invicta', Oporto gave Portugal its name. Located in the north of Portugal, on the right bank of the River Douro, Oporto is the country's second-largest city situated within an urban area of over 1.3 million inhabitants.
Oporto is internationally known for its port wine, bridges and its old and contemporary architecture. Its historical center has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. The city of Oporto is also a center of educational and research excellence, standing out for its technological and scientific innovation which attracts students from all across the country and from overseas.
UPT is organized in five Departments: Law, Economics and Management; Science and Technology, Heritage and Tourism and Psychology and Education that teach 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle programmes and post graduations, structured according to the Bologna Process. UPT aims to be a model in higher education, taking advantages of the different department’s synergies. More than acquiring theoretical knowledge, the students have the chance to develop practical work and research projects, developing different kinds of skills that prepare them for jobs in future career and for living in a competitive global society.

Our officially recognized research (ISO 9001 and FCT) works intensively with partners across the world, delivering world-class research and creating bleeding hedge knowledge to assist and promote sustained global development for all. We share that knowledge under a strict Open Access Policy (whenever research is publicly funded).
We deliver that knowledge to our global students in our accredited (Portuguese Ministry of Educations, Portuguese Higher Education Accreditation Agency and ISO 9001) teaching Departments and Programmes.
Our internationally driven Faculty pastoral duties, the vibrant learning community, the social responsibility and commitment of UPT as a whole, the exciting, tolerant and multicultural environment in Portugal, contributing to the development of the personal, interpersonal, cultural and intercultural skills mandatory to succeed professionally in a Global world.
Application Materials
a) Application form, duly completed
b) Declaration, on oath, that the candidate does not hold the Portuguese nationality;
c)Higher Secondary Examination certificate, including grades (Document certifying the holder of a qualification obtained in the origin country, may entitle the candidate to apply for admission in that country’s Higher Education, with classifications). This document must be recognized by a Public Portuguese High School
d) Document certifying the completion of the exams equivalents to students admitted under the general regime of admission and accession in terms of their level and contents tested, as well as with the respective classification;
e) Document certifying the level of knowledge of Portuguese or English according to the language used in the course the applicant is applying for;
f) Copy of the passport or another legally equivalent document;
g) Passport-type photograph;
If the diploma’s language is not Portuguese nor English, an official translation into one of these languages must be offered as well.

Universidade Portucalense
UPT has a wide and modern campus in the Asprela University zone. It is well-known for its high technological innovation level. The several computation laboratories are available 24h a day with a wireless network over the campus which makes access to information easier, contributing to the personal and scientific development of the students. There are different areas on the campus: not only the Library that invites the students to study and reflect but also the bookshop, forum, canteen, bars, in and outdoor cafés and parks for leisure and social contact.
Fitness program at Porto University (Faculty of Sports) The premises are just opposite the UPT’s building, 5 minutes walking.
The Portucalense University Student Association is the legitimate representative of all students of this university and also the main catalyst of student’s life. Its main aims are the intransigent defence of student’s interests and desires at the pedagogical level, the offer of multiple cultural and recreation activities and international cooperation.
It is a non-profit organisation of Law students and young graduates which is independent, impartial and without any political or ideological.
The General Library of the University Portucalense consists of an integrated system responsible for library activities and bibliographic information of the University, aiming to facilitate access to information resources necessary to carry out teaching duties, research, knowledge building and continuing education of the academic community.
